Supporting you from bump to baby, and beyond

Pregnancy and the postnatal period place unique demands on the body. Hormonal changes, altered posture, birth-related strain and the physical reality of caring for a baby can all affect how you move, feel and recover.

At Perfect Balance, pregnancy care is never one-size-fits-all. We take the time to understand your experience, assess what your body needs right now, and guide you with clear, practical support.

Care may focus on comfort during pregnancy, recovery after birth, feeding and settling support, or helping you feel strong and confident again in everyday life.

About Pregnancy & Postnatal Care

Gentle Support for Feeding and Settling

Feeding challenges can feel overwhelming, especially when things don't go as expected. Small difficulties with latch, comfort or settling can quickly affect confidence for both parent and baby. Our lactation and cranial osteopathy support focuses on helping feeding feel calmer, more comfortable and more manageable. Sessions are always centred on you and your baby as a pair. Support may help babies who are:

  • Struggling to latch or stay on the breast

  • Showing tension through the neck, jaw or body

  • Unsettled, windy or uncomfortable after feeds

Alongside clear feeding guidance, gentle cranial osteopathy may be used where appropriate to support relaxation and ease. The aim is never to force change, but to help things feel easier and more natural.

Pelvic, Back and Postnatal Support

Pregnancy and birth can affect your pelvis, back, core and pelvic floor in different ways. Some changes are expected, others may benefit from specialist assessment and support. Women's health physiotherapy focuses on helping you move comfortably and confidently through pregnancy and into postnatal life. Support commonly includes:

  • Pelvic girdle pain and low back pain during pregnancy

  • Pelvic floor symptoms such as leaking, heaviness or discomfort

  • Recovery following vaginal birth or caesarean section

  • Scar discomfort, core weakness or reduced confidence with movement

Your clinician will listen carefully to your story, assess how your body is moving, and build a realistic plan using hands-on treatment and guided exercises. The focus is on everyday confidence, lifting your baby, returning to work, and moving without fear.

Mummy MOT®: Postnatal check that puts mum first

A Mummy MOT® is Perfect Balance's comprehensive postnatal assessment, typically from six weeks after birth and beyond. It's suitable whether this is your first baby or you've had several pregnancies. Your assessment includes:

  • Posture, breathing and core function assessment

  • Pelvic floor check and personalised exercise guidance

  • Support for tummy gap (diastasis recti)

  • Advice on safe return to running, gym or exercise classes

This is time set aside for you, to ask questions, understand your recovery, and get clear guidance that often isn't covered in routine follow-ups.

Pregnancy Massage: Comfort and relaxation for your changing body

As your body adapts through pregnancy, it's common to experience tightness, aches and disrupted sleep. At Perfect Balance a pregnancy massage provides a safe, supportive space to ease physical tension and help you relax. Pregnancy massage may help with:

  • Back, neck and shoulder discomfort

  • Hip and pelvic tightness

  • Heavy or swollen legs

  • General tension, stress and poor sleep

Treatments are always adapted to how you're feeling on the day, using safe positioning and support. The goal is simple: comfort, calm and a chance to rest.

FAQ's

Whether you’re early in pregnancy, approaching your due date, or months (or years) postnatal, we’ll help you find the right starting point. Our team works collaboratively, so if your care involves a combination of pregnancy massage, women’s health physiotherapy, osteopathy or postnatal assessment, that plan is coordinated clearly and thoughtfully. We’ll talk through your concerns, explain your options, and guide you towards support that feels right for you.

No referral is needed. You can book directly with us at any stage of pregnancy or postnatal recovery. If you’re also under the care of a GP, midwife or consultant, we’re happy to work alongside them and keep communication clear where appropriate.

Yes. All pregnancy care at Perfect Balance is delivered by clinicians trained and experienced in working with pregnant and postnatal clients. Treatments are always adapted to your stage of pregnancy, how you’re feeling on the day, and any relevant medical guidance. Nothing is done routinely or without explanation.

This depends on the type of support you’re looking for. Some clients attend for gentle support or advice within the early weeks, while others book structured assessments such as a Mummy MOT® from around six weeks postnatal (following vaginal or caesarean birth). We’ll help you decide the most appropriate timing for you.

That’s very common, and completely fine. You don’t need to decide before booking. We’ll start with a conversation, assess what’s most relevant to you right now, and guide you towards the right clinician or combination of support.

This varies depending on your symptoms, goals and how your body responds. Some people benefit from a small number of sessions for reassurance and guidance. Others choose ongoing support through pregnancy or postnatal recovery. Your clinician will always discuss expectations clearly and honestly.

No. You won’t be told to “wait it out”, but you also won’t be pushed into care you don’t need. Our role is to explain, support and guide, so you can make informed decisions with confidence.
