Advanced assessment services

Tomorrow's body starts here.

Advanced assessment services at Perfect Balance.

At Perfect Balance, advanced assessment services help us understand why your body is struggling, not just where it hurts. Biomechanical Screening and MSK Diagnostic Ultrasound give our clinicians deeper insight into movement, loading and tissue health, allowing us to diagnose more accurately, plan treatment more precisely, and track progress with confidence.

These tools don’t replace clinical expertise, they strengthen it by helping the Clinicians at Perfect Balance have access to clear data to make smarter decisions for better outcomes.

What is biomechanical screening?

Biomechanical screening is a detailed assessment of how your body produces force, controls movement and manages load during functional activity. Using ActiForce® technology, we capture objective data on strength, asymmetry and movement patterns that aren’t always visible during standard assessment. This allows us to identify hidden contributors to pain, recurring injury or reduced performance. The result is clearer answers, fewer assumptions, and a more targeted rehabilitation or performance plan.

What is ActiForce®?

ActiForce® is an advanced force-measurement system that provides real-time, objective insight into how muscles and joints are working under load. It allows the experts at Perfect Balance Clinics to assess:

  • Muscle strength and force production

  • Side-to-side imbalances

  • Load tolerance and control

  • Functional movement under stress

This is particularly valuable for identifying overload patterns or weaknesses that can persist even when pain has settled.

What is Musculoskeletal (MSK) Diagnostic

Musculoskeletal (MSK) diagnostic ultrasound is a safe, non-invasive imaging tool used to visualise muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints and other soft tissues in real time. Unlike X-rays, ultrasound uses no radiation and allows dynamic assessment, meaning we can observe structures as they move and respond under load. MSK ultrasound can help assess:

  • Tendon injuries (including Achilles, patellar and rotator cuff)

  • Muscle tears and strains

  • Ligament injuries

  • Bursitis and inflammation

  • Joint effusions and soft tissue changes

Ultrasound supports clearer diagnosis, more accurate treatment decisions, and the ability to monitor healing over time, ensuring care is guided by tissue health, not just symptoms.

Please note: MSK Diagnostic Ultrasound is currently available in Hatfield, with plans to expand. Where not available on site, we work with trusted partners to support accurate diagnosis and care in other areas of the country.

FAQ's

Advanced assessment can be helpful if you’re dealing with ongoing pain, recurring injuries, reduced performance, or uncertainty about what’s driving your symptoms. Many clients come to us without a clear diagnosis, our role is to assess, explain and guide you towards the most appropriate next step.

No referral is needed. You can book directly with Perfect Balance. If advanced assessment is appropriate, your clinician will explain why and how it fits into your overall care plan.

No. Advanced assessment supports hands-on care, it doesn’t replace it. The insights gained help your clinician make more informed decisions about rehabilitation, exercise progression, manual therapy or movement support.

Musculoskeletal (MSK) diagnostic ultrasound is currently available at selected clinics (including Hatfield), with plans to expand. Where it isn’t available on site, we work closely with trusted partners to ensure you still receive accurate diagnosis and continuity of care.

After your assessment, your clinician will explain the findings clearly and discuss your options. This may include rehabilitation, strength and conditioning, physiotherapy, further imaging, or reassurance where appropriate. Nothing is generic, everything is guided by your results and goals.

Appointment length varies depending on the type of assessment and your needs. Your clinician will explain what to expect when booking and ensure there’s enough time to assess properly and answer your questions.
