Why is everyone talking about Zumba?
Zumba is a new craze that has taken over gyms across the country, having been around for the past few years in America, Zumba has now hit the UK in a big way! This new exercise class uses the benefits of dance to create a fast-paced cardio class, leaving people feeling firmer and more toned. We think that it is a great class to take part in, not only are you getting the same benefits of gym equipment such as a treadmill or exercise bike, but you can also have some fun along the way!
When people are in the gym sometimes they focus on one muscle group that they feel are weaker than others or they may be body-conscious of a particular area. If this area has not been correctly identified as a problem area, then this focus could lead to over-training of muscles, which could result in injury. Zumba is a total body work out, not only does it get your heart-rate up, giving you an aerobic workout that will help you burn fat, it also gives you the chance to tone and work-out your whole body.
It can be a lot more fun than just simply going to the gym and could be a great addition to any work out regime. Zumba also helps to tone your abdominals, the dance sequences used help to encourage flexion in your abdominal area. If you are interested in Zumba then why not enquire at your local gym, many places now include classes in their timetables. If you can’t find a Zumba class, why not join a Latin class or another dance class, many studies have shown that dance is a great way to; reduce stress, increase energy, improve strength, as well as increasing muscle tone and coordination.
