Diabetes - type and complications
Are you struggling with diabetes? This article will provide you with information on understanding two different types of diabetes and their complications.
“In the UK, 90% of adults are diagnosed with type two diabetes, and the numbers, unfortunately, every year are on the rise.”
How can you manage diabetes and even reverse the condition through lifestyle changes, physical activity, and nutrition advice?
There are two types of diabetes that we are going to look at:
Type one is when the immune cells in your body attack and destroy the insulin cells. The body cannot produce a sufficient amount of insulin or the cells in your body have become unresponsive to the insulin that your body is producing.
Type two is a result of poor diet and poor lifestyle choices, and it’s possible to be stopped and reversed.
Therefore, it’s really crucial to take action now as the complications of this condition can be life-altering if not fatal. In the UK, 90% of adults are diagnosed with type two diabetes, and the numbers, unfortunately, every year are on the rise. We also have a growing number of people diagnosed with prediabetes, both adults and children. This condition is a state of constant high levels of sugar that put you at risk of developing full-time diabetes.
Complications of this condition can include:
retinopathy
nerve damage
liver and kidney damage
limb amputations.
The time to act is now. Luckily, there’s plenty of things that you can change to better your condition.
