Tennis elbow is a very chronic condition. People can have just an initial episode of tennis elbow or a very chronic case that can go on for a long time but they may not have had a clear diagnosis.

Here are the common symptoms of tennis elbow:

• Lack of strength in the forearm?

• An intense pain on the forearm. This will most likely be present when doing activities.?

• Some tearing sensations in the elbow. These are very uncomfortable and you may need to go and see a doctor and maybe get an ultrasound scan just to make sure you haven’t torn the tendon.

When people get tennis elbow, it tends to fall into two categories. People that get tennis elbow often end up with one of these two things happening:

• Either you are overusing your elbow, so they may be causing a repetitive strain injury to the elbow, the lateral epicondyle, or the tendons.

• On the other hand, you may be underusing it. If you’ve had a long term wrist or elbow problem, or if your arm’s been in a cast for a long time, you might find when you first start to mobilise your arm and get it moving you might experience what’s called tennis elbow or lateral epicondylitis.

You need to know if your elbow has been underused or overused because the advice is going to differ when moving forward with treatment.
